Iftikhar Ahmad is a dedicated and highly experienced agricultural scientist who devoted his life to improving soil fertility and agricultural productivity. After completing his M.Sc. (Hons.) in Soil Science, he began his professional journey in 1989 as an Agriculture Officer. From the very beginning, he focused on understanding farmers’ challenges and providing practical, science-based solutions.
In the early phase of his career, he worked closely with farming communities, conducting field experiments and offering guidance on soil and water management. His passion for research and analysis led him to laboratory work, where he developed strong expertise in soil, water, and fertilizer analysis. During this time, he played a key role in upgrading laboratory systems and contributed significantly toward achieving international standards, particularly ISO-17025 accreditation.
Through consistent dedication and professional excellence, he progressed to higher positions including District Officer (Soil Fertility), Agricultural Chemist, Assistant Microbiologist, Senior Scientist, and ultimately Principal Scientist. His tenure at the Mango Research Institute, Multan, marked a significant phase of his career, where he conducted impactful research on improving mango yield and quality through integrated nutrient management and optimized fertilizer practices.
Throughout his career, he participated in numerous professional trainings, enhancing his knowledge in laboratory management, ISO standards, agricultural technologies, and research methodologies. His research interests span across critical areas such as micronutrient management, soil salinity, biofortification (Zinc and Iron), and phytoremediation of contaminated soils.
Iftikhar Ahmad has contributed extensively to scientific research, with more than 25 publications in national and international journals. His work has addressed key agricultural challenges including crop nutrition, soil health, and sustainable farming practices.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he received multiple honorarium awards over the years. Beyond his scientific achievements, he has been a trusted advisor to farmers, helping them improve crop productivity through practical and research-based recommendations.
Today, he is recognized as a respected agricultural expert whose career reflects a strong commitment to research, innovation, and service to the farming community.
