Jamil Ahmad Choudhry is a highly experienced and accomplished scientist who has devoted his career to the advancement of scientific research, metrology (measurement science), and quality management systems. He earned his M.Sc. in Physics with a specialization in Electronics, which laid a strong foundation for his technical expertise and professional growth.

From the beginning of his career, he worked extensively in the field of physical metrology, dealing with critical measurement areas such as mass, length, temperature, pressure, and electrical standards. With over three decades of professional experience, he established himself not only as a skilled researcher but also as an effective administrator and system developer.

He served in key positions at the National Physical & Standards Laboratory (NPSL), Islamabad, eventually rising to the position of Director General. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in implementing Quality Management Systems in laboratories in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. His expertise as a Lead Assessor and Lead Auditor highlights his deep understanding of international quality standards and accreditation systems.

Beyond laboratory science, he also made significant contributions to the energy sector, particularly in the performance testing of electrical appliances and the development of energy efficiency standards and labeling systems. He served as a National Expert in regional energy efficiency projects, contributing to sustainable energy practices in Pakistan.

Jamil Ahmad Choudhry has also been an active trainer and consultant. He has delivered more than 35 training sessions and lectures on topics such as ISO standards, metrology, and laboratory quality management. Through his consultancy work, he has supported numerous public and private sector organizations in establishing and improving laboratory systems in line with international standards.

In addition to his technical roles, he held senior leadership positions within PCSIR, including Director Technology and Member Science, where he contributed to strategic decision-making and institutional development.

Today, Jamil Ahmad Choudhry is recognized as a leading scientific professional who has played a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s quality infrastructure, laboratory standards, and metrology systems. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to excellence, integrity, and the advancement of science and quality systems.
